Among children and adolescents in Franklin County:
• One in 5 has a diagnosable mental disorder.
• One in 10 has serious emotional disturbance with substantial functional impairment.
• One in 20 faces extreme functional impairment.
 

  Among children and adolescents in Ohio:
• Nearly a quarter of a million Ohio children have a serious mental or emotional  disorder.  They will grow into adults with mental/emotional disorders if not treated now,  as children.
• 7 of 10 youth in Ohio’s juvenile detention facilities have been diagnosed with mental illness- few get adequate treatment.
• The Centers of Disease Control (CDC) recently reported an 8% suicide rate increase among youth ages 10 to 24.  This is the largest increase in 15 years.
